Held To Higher Standard?

We Have Always Been

subjected to political factions making plans to keep their party ahead of the other.  It’s done at the local level and most assuredly on the much larger national arena.  It’s usually followed by an admonishment that to not do so would be an ignominy to the party.  To offer Representative Joe Sestak a position in the administration of the highest office of this country, is supposedly a bad thing.  To ask him, Joe Sestak,  not to run in a primary that would preclude him from accepting such an offer is allegedly a wrong doing.  Other administrations have done it and no heads have turned. So why now?

Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) said Thursday his brother has spoken with White House officials about the congressman’s allegation that he was offered an Obama administration job if he would stay out of a Democratic Senate primary.

In an effort to keep or even get a toehold on the political scene many will resort to old practices in the hopes that people aren’t really listening and reading what is really going on.  The practice of asking someone to not make a particular move in the hopes of gaining or benefiting from their “expertise” is not a new maneuver.   People are being led to believe that there is something wrong with this particular administration asking for something.  From the time that this republic was formulated, in its present form, politicians have made those “backroom” deals in order to solidify their spot on the political front.  From Presidents on down to our local mayors have been elected with these kind of concessions taking place.  If you do this for me, I will do that for you. It’s called “Quid Pro Quo”!  ((From the Latin meaning “something for something”)

Then why is it such fuel for the fodder, that this particular administration has to undergo, when it practices politics as usual?

Is it SSDD?

Not much ever really changes from one time to a current time.  Faces may have, even emotions may have, but G?D bless the “child” that’s got his own.  It wasn’t that long ago that statements by many “responsible” journalists have fanned the flames for the onslaught of negative diatribes that emanate from a people needing someone to blame for their own part in the slow demise of our country.  Statements like:

“I see people working together. I see people trying to save their property…I don’t see a bunch of people running around waving guns at helicopters. I don’t see a bunch of people running shooting cops. I don’t see a bunch of people raping people on the street…I see the heartland of America. When I look at Iowa and when I look at Illinois, I see the backbone of America.”

When “responsible” journalists; (by their own definition), toss out statements like the above without looking at any cause and effect relationship regarding the matter can only make it difficult for this nation to heal properly.  I am not talking about mere signs that say America is moving forward from a past of Apartheid and utter racial bigotry. I am talking about people banning together to keep our politicians honest in all their affairs.  I am also talking about our President Barrack Hussein Obama, as well.  (I used his middle name out of respect,  for there is nothing wrong with it.)  Besides, it’s on his United States of America issued and approved “Birth Certificate”.

I am tired of hearing them say our President is an “Illegal Alien (I guess they feel he is just doing the job Americans don’t want to do, as the adage goes.)

It was at a recent Tavist Smiley televised event where the panel agreed in principle and with “Love” that the “Black Agenda is an American Agenda” .  Africans in America, those Descendents of Captured Africans have always had the well being of this nation at heart.  It has been certain segments of white America posing opposition to such an idea that causes the dissonance I feel and hear all around me.  If I am only able to see why people respond positively towards respect and kindness as a normal response, yet am unable to see why, conversely, a negative response to being treated badly is also a normal response, then I am only turning a blind eye to the latter  I am in fact practicing an immoral behavior, a character deficiency of the highest order.

I am not that naive to think that a politician is in that arena because they really want to help the people.  It’s all about want they are able to receive as a result of what they are able to give.   I don’t think any of them are willing to give up their high salaries and perks in order to “save” the union.

Segments of this society have been asking for concessions and never receiving them and if that is true, then that is a crime. Republicans and Senators are putting into question their own practices by holding  the Administration of “Change” to a higher order.  It is the hope of this writer that when they are back in office that their words on this matter and other topics are remembered.  The proverbial log in their eye needs to be addressed as well. When Republican Senator John Cornyn made his stand against what he and his party has deemed inappropriate behavior from the current administration he has actually called into account his parties practices as well. Mr. Cornyn chimed in with the following:

“If true, it’s a crime,” said Sen. John Cornyn (Tex.), chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and one who signed the letter to Holder. The Justice Department has declined other requests to investigate or an appointment for a special prosecutor.

In response I offer this from the BUZZFLASH NEWS ANALYSIS
by Jeffrey Joseph http://blog.buzzflash.com/analysis/1054

People not within the FOX bias circle had a very different reaction to the news. A former federal prosecutor and executive director of nonpartisan legal watchdog group CREW, Melanie Sloan simply stated, “People offer members of Congress things all the time,” and that “I don’t think there is any issue. I don’t see the crime.” Furthermore, Ron Kaufman, a political director for President George H.W. Bush, acknowledged ethics had taken a greater priority in the public sphere now than in the past, but he still dismissed the allegations, telling the New York Times, “Tell me a White House that didn’t do this, back to George Washington.”

It would seem that many of the leaders in our communities have, and for quite some time, always been held to a higher standard than others in our society.  Many were told that you have to be twice as good in order to be accepted.  In our previous presidential election the electorate had to choose between Harvard Class Lawyers and community college graduates.  Millions of voters wouldn’t or didn’t even try to buy into that age-old notion that I had previously spouted as the way Africans in America needed to be – being twice as good as that other man,
