Google enters net telephony with free India-US calls

Free US calls to India!

Save up to 50% on Home Phone ServiceNow that Google has entered net telephony with free India-US/Canada calling using “Google Talk” via  Gmail it would seem that the industry is not opening up for the many VoIP companies in the industry.

With many companies offering lower prices for the use of their VoIP technology in an effort to gain entrance into what many deem the new wealth trend, Google, it would seem is trying to upset the apple cart.  If companies like Google are going to be offering free calls to places that are already included in many of the Voice over Internet Protocol companies calling areas or plans, it would seem that there is going to be a problem.  Maybe not!

What if other companies with their many products get a similar idea and start giving their product and services away in an effort to just give back to the people who have supported them all through the years?  What a concept!

Are Calling Cards on the way out?

With calling card companies charging as low as 1.5¢ per minute for that same call to India, many people with family and friends can save up to 90% whenever they use a calling card to call.  It would seem that this free thing hasn’t hit many of the other overseas locations (i.e. Ghana, Haiti, Jamaica, Palestine to name a few)  that people generally purchase calling cards for.  But just having the ability to save during these tough economic times is truly a blessing.

When you look at the fact that GLOBALINX® has India as part of the 75 calling areas/countries their customers can call make its calling plan very alluring.  Features like “no restrictions” on how long a person can talk make the package extremely desirable.  You can call and talk to someone in India using their residential service and never have to worry if you’re talking too long.  Now we have to work on getting this plan in the countries that presently don’t have it.

Just when year 2010 was coming to end, Google has decided to play Santa by extending free Google Voice calling via Gmail till end of 2011. Google Voice acts as voice mail transcription, free local calls, free local SMS, cheaper International Calls and single number for several other numbers – mobile, home, office. Free calling for US and Canada citizens via Google Voice was destined to end by this year’s last day. Back in June, Google opened up Google Voice for all US and Canada based citizens. –

Great information about illegal calls http://illegalvoip.com/calltoindia.html and how it is affecting commerce in the countries they are in. We at http://www.5linx.com offer solutions to anyone concerned about how such activities are being conducted in their countries.

This is a great article about the Internet and VoIP http://www.networkworld.com/columnists/2011/010511-andreas.html?page=1.

However, “It is estimated that over 90% of new business telephone systems shipped in 2010 will have VOIP capability, and we will evaluate the reasons for that trend, as well as explain why owning a phone system with VOIP capability has become a necessity even if you don’t use the features at the time of purchase.” (http://www.bestarticle.org/communication/do-not-buy-a-new-business-phone-system-without-voip-capability/). Obviously the need for it is obvious and SIP Trunking for the business that is looking for that additional protection is what they would more than likely get. 5LINX just acquired TMC Communications, a California company that offers the SIP Solution the GLOBALINX telecom side was needing. I see nothing but good things in the next few years with this company.

We comply with US Federal, State and local regulations when it comes to the collection of fees owed. We are in compliance with any of the other countries we currently are in, which includes, I am sure, India.
